Overview

The power of a dynamic environment.

At Impetus, we understand the power of a dynamic environment. After all, it sparks a strong team. In their rapid growth, New Orleans-based nonprofit healthcare system LCMC looked to centralize its operations in a new two-floor 32,187 sq. ft. headquarters in the Energy Centre building in the Central Business District (CBD). This new base would relocate the executive, finance, legal, marketing, population health, and supply chain teams in one consolidated space. Impetus, as Lead Contractor, was in the midst of renovating LCMC’s Audubon Retirement Village when they invited us to take on this challenge. Working with EskewDumezRipple and AOS Interior Environments, we kicked off a unique build-out with a tight 4-month construction schedule.

A team approach.

Impetus values a partnership-driven approach. It’s the power source of progress. And a team approach was vital in handling this two-floor interior build-out. LCMC’s headquarters would take over the 25th floor of the Energy Centre and half of the 24th. Our team worked with neighboring businesses on floors above and below, along with the building operators. Through open communication, we coordinated demolition times, delivery schedules, and addressed noise concerns promptly. With both the designer and AOS, we worked diligently on design constructability to maximize time and efficiency.

A good time for innovation.

A compressed schedule always means it’s a good time for innovation. Impetus worked with the client to choose an effective construction strategy that leveraged both cost and schedule. Though not considered initially, the DIRTT system was an ideal solution for a streamlined process. Acquired by AOS, DIRTT is a prefabricated “plug and play” interior partition system that can be installed following all overhead electrical rough-in, including ceilings and flooring. But field measurements and preparation had to be on point to utilize the system. Working with our trade partners, the construction team prepared and maintained the space for seamless installation, going through pre-installs to ensure success. Following installation, the space was enlivened to reflect New Orleans’ unique culture with strategic design touches like a glass map of the city showing all of LCMC’s locations and musical instrument sconces in a state-of-the-art conference room.

A space that celebrates the city it serves.

At Impetus, we frequently ask ourselves, “How can we make our client’s life easier?” For LCMC’s new headquarters, we knew it would be through the company’s partnership mentality. It allowed us to propel the flow of construction and use innovative methods to deliver on time. LCMC’s headquarters brings together 112 employees over two floors—allowing for the cultivation of a supportive team dynamic in a space that celebrates the city it serves. As part of New Orleans’ downtown resurgence, LCMC infuses its energy into the CBD as they work to create “a culture of wellness” for all.
